Surrounded by art

Murals seem to have popped up recently. I saw two being painted over the course of one day, then I started noticing colorful walls as I walked around. While I’m sure some have always been there and I just haven’t noticed, it’s nice to see art as part of the city’s backdrop.

How appropriate that Lima, seemingly the construction capital of the world, has a giant mural of construction trucks bringing debris out of a man's heart. Emotional baggage?
We had a great time discussing this one.

"If you look for harmony inside of yourself, you will live happily.
You will hear the music inside and outside of yourself."

The quote in the picture above is part of this mural.

Several blocks on the other side of our district have also decided to host their own art museum by putting art on exterior walls, in tiny patios, etc. It’s called the Neighbors’ Museum, or Museo de los Vecinos. I’m not sure if the art displayed is from artists who live in the neighborhood or if the neighbors have simply decided which artists to promote, but I love the idea. ¡Que viva
 el arte!
